ALMS - AUSTRALIAN LANDCARE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM LTD.

ALMCS - designed for Australian land managers

ALMCS (Australian Land Management Certification System) is Australia's only whole-of-farm,catchment-linked national certification system for land management. It is an elegant and much-needed innovation in land management.

ALMCS is a set of management decisions customised for each farm. It operates on a whole-of-farm catchment-linked basis to help landholders across Australia continuously improve environmental, social and economic outcomes.

ALMCS is managed and promoted by the ALM Group,a not-for-profit organisation established by landholders to improve environmental outcomes in ways that recognise and reward landholders and their support organisations.

ALMCS was designed by landholders with help from specialists in ecology, human behaviour, agribusiness, policy, agriculture, information management and system design.

Landholders, government agencies and catchment management organisations now using ALMCS all share the same commitment to improving environmental outcomes. The ALM Group is the partner they have chosen as a way of documenting their achievements and progress in a way that is recognised by markets and the community.

Recognises landholders for managing responsibly

ALMCS delivers continuous environmental improvement because it provides a positive feed back loop; improvement leading to recognition leading to improvement.

ALMCS is an effective system in its own right providing the landholder with improved productivity, environmental outcomes and self esteem. It also gives the community, catchment management organisations and the market place for food and fibre products a way of recognising the efforts of these landholders.

Unique

ALMCS is unique in that it is the only land management certification system in Australia that can be used for all industries and activities on the farm, as well as for land that isn’t being used for agricultural production.

Credible

ALMCS is credible in that it is based on internationally accepted management standards so customers overseas as well as locally know that products that come from ALM Group certified land holdings have been managed in an environmentally responsible way.

Powerful

ALMCS is a powerful tool for farm management and for linking farm and catchment priorities and strategies.
